Cara mengembalikan Folder Options pada Windows XP

Tidak bisa kita pungkiri bahwa setiap orang sudah merasakan terkena virus windows meskipun kecil ataupun yang membahayakan file penting. Memakai antivirus berbayar ratusan ribu pun juga terkena variasi virus-virus terbaru yang antivirus tidak bisa mendeteksi dan masih belum ada obatnya.

Setelah virus komputer sudah hilang biasanya meninggalkan jejak yang masih menjengkelkan apalagi banyak pengguna yang masih awam mengenai cara-cara menggunakan Windows XP yang baik dan benar.

Berikut ini cara mengembalikan Folder Options pada windows explorer tanpa program pihak ketiga, hanya menggunakan program dasar Windows XP.

Langkah 1: Jalankan Run kemudian ketik gpedit.msc kemudian tekan enter untuk menjalankan
Langkah 2: Pilih User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Windows Components –> Windows Explorer
Langkah 3: Klik 2x pada tulisan “Removes Folder Options menu from Tools menu” pilih Enabled klik apply kemudian pilih Disabled, klik OK
Langkah 4: Tutup semua windows explorer, kemudian buka lagi dan coba folder options-nya, biasanya sudah muncul

Microsoft mulai menyiagakan Windows 7 penerus Vista

Dalam rangka untuk menghindari masalah kompatibilitas yang menyerang sistem operasi Windows Vista pada saat peluncuran tahun lalu, maka kali ini Microsoft telah memerintahkan pembuat komputer dan hardware untuk memulai ujicoba peralatan mereka di sistem operasi yang akan datang Windows 7 secepatnya setelah versi beta tersedia.

Pembuat hardware yang tidak lulus tidak dapat masuk kualifikasi sertifikasi Windows Logo untuk Windows 7 maupun Windows Vista. Microsoft tidak menutup jadwal kemungkinan peluncuran versi beta dari Windows 7. Melihat jadwal tetap Microsoft, kemungkinan besar pengiriman pertama dari Windows 7 beta sekitar beberapa bulan ke depan. Microsoft mengharapkan dapat mengirim versi final dari Windows 7 di akhir tahun 2009 atau tahun 2010.

Microsoft kelihatannya melalui cara keras dimana tujuan utama untuk memastikan bahwa Windows 7 kompatibel dengan produk yang akan keluar. Perusahaan ini dikritik secara luas dikarenakan saat rilis Windows Vista tahun lalu tidak dapat melakukan pekerjaannya dalam memastikan kompatibilitas hardware dan aplikasi.

Sebagai dampak dari kurang kompatibilitas tersebut, banyak perusahaan telah mengurungkan niatnya atau bahkan melewati seluruhnya, PC mereka yang sekarang ini masih di Windows XP ke Windows Vista dan akan menunggu Windows 7.

Windows Vista potong harga

Microsoft said on Thursday it plans to cut prices of its Windows Vista operating system sold at retail outlets in an effort to push customers to switch to the newest version of Windows.

The company said it plans to lower retail prices for Vista in 70 countries later this year in tandem with the shipment of the Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Packaged versions of Windows Vista sold at stores and on the Web account for less than 10 percent of all licenses of the dominant Windows operating system that sits on more than 90 percent of the world’s personal computers.

Most consumers opt to buy a new PC, which comes preloaded with the latest version of Windows.

In the United States, Microsoft will reduce prices for Windows Vista Ultimate, the company’s top-end operating system, to $319 from $399 for the full version and cut the price for an “upgrade” version to $219 from $259 for consumers who already run Windows XP or another edition of Vista.

It also cut prices for upgrade versions of Vista Home Premium, its mainstream product, to $129 from $159. The price cuts vary by country.

In emerging markets, Microsoft will stop selling “upgrade” versions of Vista, because, for many customers, it will be the first purchase of a genuine copy of Windows. The company will instead sell Vista Home Premium and Home Basic, a stripped-down version, at the upgrade prices.

Microsoft has sold more than 100 million licenses of Vista since its January 2007 release and its adoption has underpinned strong earnings results at the company in recent quarters.

Nonetheless, some consumers have raised issues with Vista’s performance, stringent hardware requirement and lack of support for other software and devices like printers. Microsoft said it would continue to sell Windows XP until June 2008, delaying a scheduled transition to Vista.
